MM Greeting Ideas

Ideas for Morning Meeting Greetings!

  1. Looking through the window song! You will need:
    • An empty picture frame with no back or protective glass
    • The song goes as follows:
(Class sings...) I'm looking through the window; I'm looking through the window; I'm looking through the window, to see who I can see. (Student says...) I see....(A name of a student), and pass the picture frame to the new student.

    • This can be changed in many ways depending on grade level, time allotment, and class. In my class, the students walk across the circle and shake hands, then continue to address their peer by name and a handshake.
    • The greeting continues until all students have been chosen.
    • When the last student is standing, sing the song as normal. Omit the words To see who I can see. Instead, use the words And s/he see's all his/her friends
 2. You've got a friend in me!
  • Poster with words on it
  • Song goes as follows:
(Class sings...)
You've got a friend in me.  You've got a friend in me
You got troubles and I got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together, we can see it through
'Cause you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
  • Between versus, a student picks another student and says... "Good morning (name)" in which the student would repeat "Good morning (name)"
  • All students are standing up until they have been chosen, in which then they sit down
  • Greeting continues until all students are sitting down
  • When all students are sitting, repeat song one more time.
